We are currently seeking an experienced and highly motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Quality & Safety Division as a Safety & Quality Coordinator for Women & Child Health.

 

Job Summary:

The RN Safety & Quality Coordinator for Women & Child Health is a professionally trained Registered Nurse responsible for leading performance improvement activities across the spectrum of Maternal and Child Health services. This includes data abstraction, collection, and analytics for performance improvement activities and reporting to various organizations such as the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative and the Florida Department of Health. The coordinator organizes performance improvement processes with an emphasis on clinical guidelines, evidence-based practices, and outcomes management to achieve organizational strategic goals. This role also involves guiding the development, review, implementation, education, and documentation of evidence-based best practice guidelines for Women and Child Health services , and supporting Quality & Patient Safety functions to improve EMR documentation for quality data reports and performance metrics. The coordinator supports educational training, including SIMS training and drills, related to Women & Child Health services , and promotes high reliability methods for patient safety and a just culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate education and ongoing development of the Women and Child Health (WCH) team on emerging developments through organizing learning sessions.
  • Coordinate teams and manage projects focused on achieving clinical performance improvement, strategic imperatives, goals, and objectives.
  • Act as a liaison to various organization-wide and medical staff departmental committees where WCH data is relevant.
  • Communicate with contracted abstracting services to ensure internal data is managed, abstracted, and delivered in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Follow all protocols for documentation and maintenance of databases, and maintain compliance with all required reporting to assure deadlines are met for hospital reimbursement and public healthcare ratings agencies.
  • Identify and facilitate solutions to quality issues arising from data analysis.
  • Analyze, summarize, and provide written reports to the WCH team, highlighting performance metrics and opportunities.
  • Provide the WCH team with timely performance feedback (reports) of identified evidence-based quality metrics that enhance patient care and safety.
  • Communicate with NCH IT to improve clinical progress reports for internal performance monitoring.
  • Organize collaborative improvement meetings with the WCH team and other multidisciplinary stakeholders, and document meeting minutes.
  • Identify potential topics for research related to programs.
  • Stay up-to-date on all current literature, studies, and training, serving as the primary resource to share this information with relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain a database of clinical protocols for reference and recurring review (at least annually) to assure quality outcomes.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams system-wide to ensure compliance and success with Emergency Room treatment using evidence-based practices and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain open communication with NCH Healthcare Systems leadership regarding quality improvement, protocols, and public reporting/ratings agencies.
  • Utilize improvement methodologies including lean six sigma and PDSA cycles for rapid-cycle change.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of BSN from an accredited nursing program required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience required.
  • Labor and Delivery experience preferred.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida (or obtained within 1 year of hire).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Experience with an electronic medical record preferred.
  • Quality data analysis, performance improvement, and lean process experience preferred.
  • Certification in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or IHI healthcare quality training within 2 years of hire.
  • Ability to use judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential information.
  • High to intermediate computer knowledge: proficient in Microsoft applications and ability to learn and utilize various computer databases and E.M.R. navigation, reports, and dashboards.

Physical Requirements:

The position requires the ability to perform repetitive tasks, reach above shoulder level, distinguish color, work with chemicals and detergents, grip, bend, squat, hear clinical alarms, walk a minimum of 1 mile per day, stand for long periods of time, maneuver patients’ weight (pulling, pushing, and lifting), adapt to shift work, sit for periods of time, use moderate manual dexterity, and independently move/lift a minimum of 10 pounds.

Earnings

$70,000 - $90,000 salary
