Staff Accountant, Accounting Operations

Job Description

Networks Connect is hiring a Staff Accountant for a 3-month contract engagement with our client, an enterprise insurance company in Carmel, Indiana. This is an immediate-start opportunity for an accounting professional who is sharp with details, comfortable in the general ledger, and ready to contribute from day one.

About the Role

The Staff Accountant, Accounting Operations is responsible for handling incoming and outgoing cash, processing day-to-day transactions, and maintaining accurate records. The role also assists with daily cash reconciliations and other general ledger responsibilities, working alongside both onshore and offshore accounting team members.

Earnings

$25-27 hourly

Duties

• Prepare, distribute, and process cash transactions daily
• Record miscellaneous bank transactions in the general ledger
• Monitor and respond to internal customer inquiries
• Research out-of-balance conditions in general ledger accounts
• Monitor suspense transactions and clear outstanding items
• Partner with offshore accounting team members on shared responsibilities
• Assist with testing and gathering documentation for projects
• Support internal and external audits

Requirements

• Basic accounting knowledge and a working command of debits, credits, and reconciliations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work both independently and with a team
• Required: Associate degree and a minimum of 1 year of bookkeeping experience
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 1+ years of accounting experience

Engagement Details

• 3-month contract through Networks Connect, with an immediate start
• W2 employment with Networks Connect for the duration of the assignment
• Potential opportunity to convert to a full-time role for candidates who are interested — conversion is an option, not a requirement of the contract
