Networks Connect is seeking an experienced Inpatient Coding Supervisor on behalf of our client, a large Level 1 Trauma Healthcare system, to lead and support inpatient coding operations in a remote environment. This role is responsible for coordinating daily coding workflows, ensuring productivity and accuracy standards are met, and supporting revenue integrity through high-quality coding practices.

The Coding Supervisor partners closely with coding leadership to manage staff performance, optimize workflows, support audits, and maintain compliance with regulatory and industry standards. Earnings

$30.84 - $53.04 hourly

Job Type

Duties

  • Supervise inpatient (and potentially outpatient/professional) coding processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and productivity
  • Maintain daily coding workflows to minimize backlogs and meet turnaround time expectations
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT coding, answering complex coding questions
  • Support coding audits, monitor quality scores, and address corrective actions as needed
  • Collaborate with CDI partners to ensure timely responses to queries
  • Supervise, schedule, and support a team of remote coding professionals
  • Ensure team members are properly trained, competent, and supported in their roles
  • Complete performance evaluations and support coaching, development, and corrective actions
  • Assist staff with work-related issues including workflow, system access, and connectivity concerns
  • Promote accountability, engagement, and consistent performance across the team
  • Monitor productivity, quality, and turnaround time metrics
  • Assist leadership with recurring reports, dashboards, and special projects
  • Analyze regulatory and coding guideline updates and support implementation of changes
  • Participate in department meetings and cross-functional initiatives
  • Ensure remote staff adhere to work-from-home policies and audit requirements
  • Assist with staffing decisions, budget preparation, and benchmarking
  • Support development, maintenance, and annual review of coding policies and procedures
  • Help establish and track departmental productivity and quality goals
  • Support cross-training initiatives to ensure coverage across coding specialties

Requirements

Experience

  • Prior experience in health information management or medical coding
  • Supervisory or lead coding experience strongly preferred
  • Inpatient hospital coding experience required

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of inpatient coding standards and compliance
  • Ability to lead and support remote teams effectively
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience tracking productivity, quality, and audit metrics
  • Comfort working with coding software, EHRs, and reporting tools
  • Collaborative leadership style with a quality-focused mindset

License / Certification

  • Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare, or a related field (Required)
  • CCS, CCS-P (AHIMA)
  • CPC, COC, CIC (APPC)
  • RHIT or RHIA (AHIMA)
